Chris Kluwe and Brendon Ayanbadejo are okay by me!

Being pretty much a life-long geek, the opposite of athletic and generally agnostic when it comes to sports, I have to salute professional athletes that go against my internal stereotype, formed in my high-school years in the late ’70s, of “the jock mentality”.

Thank you, Brendon Ayanbadejo, for being vocal in your support for equal rights for all Americans. When famous people like yourself start saying things that make sense it opens peoples’ minds.

Thank you, Chris Kluwe, for writing one of the best politician smack-downs I’ve ever read (and I’ve written my share of outraged screeds to political knuckle-draggers over the years). You’ve set a new Gold Standard for slapping around a backward egomaniac in office.

Guys, you took a risk in standing up for what you think is right. Kudos to your teammates, management and fans for backing you up on this. For the first time in my life I’m tempted to buy a couple of team jerseys: a Ravens #51 and a Vikings #5.

Emmett C. Burns Jr. needs to resign from the House of Delegates and the Democratic Party. Maybe he and Rep. Todd “Legitimate Rape” Akin could go into stand-up comedy together? The “So Wrong It’s Funny” team could open for “Larry the Cable Guy” at state fairs and casinos throughout the South.
