The 2012 Ig Nobel Prizes were awarded last night. Among the winning research honored this year: the physics of ponytails, a device to make people STFU, the physics of coffee spills,  and the US General Accountability Office’s report about reports about reports that recommends the preparation of a report about the report about reports about reports. This is truly and Age of Wonders!

This team looks to use engineered organisms to turn oceanic plastic trash into floating islands. Crowdfunding can make some groovy ideas doable.
